When you’re out on the water after sunset, being seen is non-negotiable. A high-quality stern light isn’t just a recommendation - it’s a critical piece of safety gear. It’s your responsibility to stay visible, and our job is to make that easy for you.
Here at Boat Accessories Australia, we stock a wide selection of reliable boat stern lights designed to meet Australian maritime standards and withstand harsh marine conditions. From simple, compact units for your tinny to powerful LED models for larger cruisers, you’ll find the right stern light for boats of any size right here.
The primary job of a stern light is to cast a clear, 135-degree arc of white light from the rear of your vessel. Our collection features a variety of compact and effective stern navigation light models that get the job done without getting in your way.
You'll find classic transom-mounted lights that sit flush against your boat’s stern, providing a clean, low-profile look while delivering the visibility you need. For smaller craft or situations where a fixed installation isn't practical, a portable stern light offers a fantastic, flexible solution you can mount and remove as required.
These functional designs focus on providing clear, uninterrupted light, making them the perfect choice for anyone needing a dependable boat navigation stern light that is both effective and unobtrusive.
Finding the perfect light is one thing, but fitting it to your boat should be just as simple. That’s why our range includes lights with various mounting options to suit any hull design or setup. You can choose from horizontal mount stern lights designed to fit neatly on flat surfaces like a transom or cabin top, or vertical mount models for side installations.
We also stock lights that are ideal for deck mounting, giving you the flexibility to position your lighting exactly where it’s needed for maximum visibility. This versatility extends across our navigation light range, with options like side-mount pairs for port and starboard lights, making it easy to create a fully compliant lighting system.
A properly mounted marine stern light performs better and lasts longer, and our selection gives you the options you need for a secure, professional-looking installation on any vessel, including a specialised sailboat stern light.
Modern LED technology has transformed marine lighting, and for good reason. An LED stern light offers superior brightness, a much longer lifespan, and significantly lower power consumption compared to old-fashioned incandescent bulbs.
Our range of LED stern boat lights allows you to choose the level of brightness that suits your vessel and your needs. You’ll find models with 12 LEDs, perfect for smaller boats, as well as high-intensity 20 LED versions that provide exceptional visibility for larger craft.
These powerful LED stern lights for boats cut through the darkness and spray, helping you stay seen even in poor conditions. A quality marine LED stern light is a smart investment in your safety, delivering reliable performance season after season without draining your battery.
Choosing the right stern light is a simple but vital step in equipping your boat for safe operation at night. At Boat Accessories Australia, we offer a straightforward, no-nonsense range of lighting solutions to keep you safe and compliant on the water. Every LED stern navigation light in our collection is selected for its build quality and performance in real-world marine environments.

The stern light is a white light mounted at the rear of the boat, showing an unbroken arc of 135° aft, centred on the centreline. Together with the sidelights and masthead light, it lets other vessels work out the heading and aspect of your boat at night. It's required between sunset and sunrise and in restricted visibility on most vessels under power, and on sailing vessels at all times when underway. Vessels under 12 m may combine the stern light with the masthead light into a single all-round white light.
